Gat Gabriel is an artist working across painting, illustration, and visual storytelling, with a background in visual communication and art direction. Her work is informed by a life lived between cities—Tel Aviv, London, and New York—and a deep connection to the natural landscape of the Catskills, where she is now based in Woodstock, NY.

 

Gabriel began her creative path studying Visual Communication, later building a multifaceted career as a graphic designer, art director, journalist, painter, and illustrator. Her work has appeared in magazines and newspapers and on numerous trade book covers, reflecting a long-standing engagement with both visual culture and narrative.

 

After more than a decade in New York City, including continued studies at the School of Visual Arts, her practice gradually shifted toward a more personal and intuitive visual language. Living in the Catskills, her work draws increasingly from nature, rhythm, and the quieter spaces of observation and reflection.

 

Alongside her artistic career, Gabriel has spent years exploring consciousness and perception, a thread that subtly informs her visual work. Her paintings often emerge as layered, intuitive processes, balancing structure and spontaneity, where color, texture, and form become a space for emotional and perceptual exploration.

 

Today, her work reflects an ongoing dialogue between inner and outer landscapes—between the seen and the felt—where painting becomes both a creative act and a form of inquiry.
